Jin Shin Jyutsu
The practice of Jin Shin Jyutsu is an ancient Japanese healing art used to balance and strengthen the body and mind.
The practice of Jin Shin Jyutsu was first documented more than twelve hundred years ago in Japan’s Imperial Palace archives.
For many centuries, the practice was transmitted verbally from generation to generation but was gradually lost. It was rediscovered by Master Jiro Murai of Japan when he healed himself from a serious illness using its’ principles. Afterwards, he devoted his life to research and teach Jin Shin Jyutsu. Mary Burmeister was an American and a student of Master Murai. She was responsible for bringing Jin Shin Jyutsu to America.
Jin Shin Jyutsu is closely related to acupuncture in theory, but it uses gentle acupressure instead of needles. Literally translated, it means the “art of knowing and helping myself.” Jin Shin Jyutsu works on a profound level, harmonizing the many aspects of our being. Jin Shin Jyutsu operates on the fundamental principle that energy circulates throughout the body along pathways that communicate directly with our nerves, blood vessels, and organs.
When these pathways become congested, due to stressful emotions, harmful living habits, or injury, our physiological functions become impaired. We can experience a lack of energy, discomfort, pain, and/or illness. During a session, points along these pathways are held which follows a specific sequence. The energy blockages will gently disperse and pathways will open. The immediate result is a deep sense of relaxation and relief, which indicates healing has begin. The aim of Jin Shin Jyutsu is to restore the natural flow of body, mind and spirit.
